FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Railways Takes Measures to Strengthen Security in Stations
The Railways Ministry has proposed to strengthen security measures in all stations throughout India commencing on the 1st of March 2012. It is planned phase-wise and is aimed to be completed by March 2017.
Incidents of suspicious terrorist activities, harassment of women, abduction of children, menace caused by rag-pickers, beggars and the third gender has increased immensely in recent times. Impersonation of travelers and abuse of E-reservation has triggered this move. To curb these malpractices and ensure safety of travelers, the Railway Ministry has decided to implement restrictions and make new rules. Carrying Id-cards and original reservation confirmation will be made mandatory. Security will be increased in all stations with focus at volatile places. Telephone services and help lines will be made fully functional.
These are the various proposals that are intended to be implemented. Suggestions for betterment of railways are welcome and will be considered. Suggestions can be mailed to our website – www.indianrailways.com or sent to our New Delhi address.

Thank you,
