RAILWAYS TAKE MEASURES TO STRENGHTEN SECURITY IN STATIONS
Railways have already taken certain security
measures in various departments and in the railway stations. They are:
Ø Platform
tickets: Each person, male or female, who isn’t travelling by train, must hold
platform tickets. In case a person without a platform ticket is found he/she
will be charged a penalty of Rs.300 under the government rule.
Ø Security
checks: Security has come up with devices like the metal detector. Bomb squads
and sniffer dogs are also available.
Ø Railway
department: In the trains, especially the women’s compartment where most
incidents occur, an individual policeman has been stationed.
Hence these are the safety measures taken in the
railway station.
Measures
to strengthen security in stations:
Ø Due
to major attacks in different places such as Mumbai and Gujarat, terrorists
easily get in with the intention of spreading violence in the place. Police
should take the following measures: check all forms which are available at all
Edmonton police service, divisional and community stations.
Ø At
any place it should be made sure that passengers are travelling to the right
place with personal identification proof and ticket.
There should be:
· Legal agreement to provide potable drinking water facility and sanitation to about 1.84 million people.
· Facilities for women, men and families should be separate in case of misbehavior.
· Any member of the department of defence-not just senior leaders- can become a target for terrorists. The purpose of this memorandum is to provide general guidance to many members and their families on how to avoid acts of terrorism, as well as to provide basic instructions in events when people become victims of a terrorist act.

Precaution:
Attitude towards security is most important. Although some of these precautions
are applicable overseas, you can decrease your chances of becoming a terrorist
target, as well as those of your family members by taking the precautions
listed in this appendix. It is highly recommended that you share this
information with each member of your family. It is also suggested that you and
your family review these precautions on a regular basis.
Ø Encourage
security awareness in your family, friends and people.
Ø Be
alert for surveillance attempts or suspicious persons.
Ø Report
them to proper authorities, trust your gut feeling.
Ø Keep
a low profile, avoid publicity. Do not flash large sums of money.
Ø Do
not unnecessarily reveal your home address, phone number or family information.
Ø Do
not carry sensitive items or embarrassing ones.
The East Central Railway has put
its security staff on high alert after the Mumbai serial blasts. The serial blasts
have been brought under heavy security surveillance. The railway has deployed
additional forces for bomb squads at luggage counters.
There is a security check in
different places, district, states, taluks and villages. Each and every station
is provided with metal detectors and bomb squads.
Hence let’s keep our country safe,
clean, secure and highly protected with well-trained security guards at railway
stations.
