HIGH COURT TELLS CENTRE TO FILE REPORT ON GOOGLE, FACEBOOK
16/02/2011, New Delhi
Social
networking is both a curse and a boon. We have seen a lot of the boon part of
it but it can even become a great curse for the country. Facebook is one such
social networking site where updates against the Indian government are becoming
a new trend.
Ø Thousands
of likes on updates criticising the function of the government in India which
specify even the party’s name.
Ø Updates
are also related to the price hike of petrol and other daily use commodities.
Ø Information
and broadcasting Minister Mrs. Ambika Soni said, “Expressions of views are good
but should not hurt or affect the national security”.
Ø Delhi
High court, taking the issue seriously has ordered the centre to file a report
against the two major social networking sites- Google and Facebook.
Ø High
court has also asked the networking sites to take certain measures, to check
what is being published.
Ø High
court has rejected the centre’s request of banning any content on sensitive
issues being posted on any social networking site but has asked the sites to
give valid answers on the issue.
Ø 15
days time has been given to both the networking sites.
