Fashions change
faster than the weather in Bangalore. They change according to the tastes,
likes, and dislikes of the people in the society. They are always in a kind of
flux and they touch us very intimately. They are present in clothes, manners, the
way of living, food, literature and even furniture! There is hardly a walk of
life which is immune to fashion. Change and variety is the other name of
Fashion. The very rapid and cheap means of communication have further helped in
the wildfire spread of innovative styles. As soon as a new fashion comes into
being in Mumbai, Paris or Milan, it reaches other parts of the world in a
matter of seconds. Thus, making fashion infectious.
By
nature, man is fashion-loving. He wants change, variety, novelty and attraction.
He wants to be smart, charming, modern, up-to-date and fresh. Therefore, he
adopts different kinds of fashion at different times, occasions and places. To
see and to be seen at an advantage is very natural. Nobody ever wants to be
considered out of fashion. To a large extent, fashion has been instrumental in
the progress of culture and civilization. Humans do not live by bread alone. We
want to remain lively, vibrant and ever-progressing.
This
thirst for fashion is insatiable. Fashion consciousness has given a rise to a
big fashion industry, for which millions and millions of rupees, dollars and
Euros are being invested.
It is human nature
to present one’s self attractively. It pleases one another and promotes
togetherness. It also makes the atmosphere lively and pleasant. But aping
others, without consideration of our age and healthy traditions, cultural roots
and heritage, is not desirable. We shouldn't reject new ideas in the
name of tradition and neither should we accept them blindly. Fashion may be
posh but not necessarily always acceptable, appreciable, or affordable.
